The spring dual traineeship period at the Sátoraljaújhely tobacco factory has come to an end – during the semester, four students spent their traineeship at the tobacco factory, all of them successfully completed the period. After completing the programme implemented in the framework of the cooperation between Continental Tobacco Corp. and the Kossuth Lajos Technical School, Vocational School and High School of Szerencs SZC Sátoraljaújhely, the students gained a qualification as logistics technicians, and one of them, after the traineeship, will start his professional career as a permanent employee of the Sátoraljaújhely tobacco factory.
The cooperation between the tobacco factory in Sátoraljaújhely and the Kossuth Lajos Technical School, Vocational School and High School of Szerencs SZC Sátoraljaújhely started last year – the four students spent half a year at the tobacco factory as logistics technicians after completing their training at the school.
During the dual traineeship, the students were able to learn about many areas of logistics, from customs, warehousing and internal logistics to technical warehousing. They also gained an insight into the life of a tobacco factory, working in pairs in A and B week shifts. They said it was important for them to be given special attention during the programme, which was reflected in their results.
“For our company, it is of paramount importance to nurture and employ the younger generation, thus increasing the region’s labour retention capacity. The traineeship programme is a key pillar of this effort: it not only provides valuable professional knowledge to students, but also gives us important experience in getting to know the next generation and mapping their competencies. We are confident that we will be able to meet many more students in the future within the framework of the programme,” said Csaba Füzi, CEO of Continental Tobacco Corp.
Continental has been employing students as trainees for several years: the company has previously implemented a dual programme with the University of Miskolc, which has also resulted in some students starting their careers at the tobacco company after the programme.
