Continental Tobacco Group has been named a finalist in the “Factory of the Year” project competition. Organised by Gyártástrend, the leading professional platform for industrial technology in Hungary, the company took part in the competition in the category “Manufacturing/Production Project of the Year”, thanks to its investment of nearly HUF 10 billion, which was handed over last year. The award ceremony, from which Continental was presented with a certificate, took place in the LaVida DUNA Event Hall in Budapest.
The “Factory of the Year” competition has been organised by Gyártástrend since 2015 with the aim of rewarding the most innovative manufacturing and production projects. The awards, which are judged by a professional jury, are designed to reflect the changing environmental and economic situation and to provide an effective response to the challenges of the day, thus serving as a good practice for the entire manufacturing and production segment.
The Continental Tobacco Group competed in the “Manufacturing/Production Project of the Year” category with its nearly HUF 10 billion investment, which was handed over last year, the main element of which was the handover of the new tobacco preparation plant hall at the Sátoraljaújhely tobacco factory. The development is a major milestone in the company’s life in terms of production capacity, robotisation and competitiveness, and will also help Continental to create additional jobs in the region.
The competition in the category was extremely fierce, with the company finishing as a finalist, alongside other major domestic industrial players.
“The opening of the new facility has opened up a number of new opportunities for our company – it is an honour to have its importance recognised by the industry, even in light of the fact that the tobacco industry is, by its very nature, less technologically pioneering than, for example, the automotive industry. Congratulations to all the winners!” – said Csaba Füzi, CEO of Continental Tobacco Corp., on the occasion of the Factory of the Year competition.
