On 27-28 September, Tobacco Magazine once again hosted Tobacco Hungary, the decisive conference of the Hungarian tobacco industry, which this time took place at the Hunguest Hotel BÁL Resort in Balatonalmádi. The Continental Tobacco Group was also present at the event, as usual – the company, in addition to being represented with its own stand, also participated in a sector roundtable discussion on theo current challenges of the Hungarian tobacco industry through József Bányász, Head of National Business Development.
For the sixth time, Tobacco Magazine has organised its annual tobacco industry meeting, Tobacco Hungary. The two-day programme again focused on the issues that most affect the sector – including the challenges facing the tobacco market, the black market situation, effective marketing of non-tobacco products, current HR challenges and sustainability, among others.
On the second day of the conference, a roundtable discussion entitled “Industry Roundtable with Market Players on Current Challenges” took place, at which József Bányász, Continental’s Head of National Business Development, Béla Apáti, Managing Director of Rónatabak, János Lustyik, Managing Director of Imperial Tobacco Hungary, János Lustyik, Managing Director of Imperial Tobacco Hungary, András Nagy Sándor, Head of External Affairs of BAT Pécsi Dohánygyár, Tamás Vizi, Head of the Special Commercial Business Partners Department of Philip Morris Hungary. The panel discussion was moderated by Bence Földi, Editor-in-Chief of Tobacco Magazine.
The discussion focused on the challenges facing the tobacco trade, including current trends in black market, sales trends of heated tobacco products and the experience of the period since the introduction of unit packs. On the latter topic, they agreed that it is too early to draw conclusions on the basis of the 8 months or so that have passed since the navigation cards that have helped the transition continue to help retailers. Participants also shared their expectations for the future.
According to Csaba Füzi, CEO of Continental Tobacco Corp., Tobacco Hungary brought its usual family atmosphere, which was supported by the fact that in addition to the professional discussion, this time the programme also included lighter presentations such as Nóra Ördög and Pál Nánási’s tips for running a small shop, or Ibolya Görög’s protocol expert guide.
