The Continental Tobacco Group, a key player in the domestic tobacco industry, has reached another milestone: the company has officially opened its new 1,200 square meter warehouse hall in the Pataki Street industrial area of Sátoraljaújhely. This real estate development marks the first investment outside Continental’s historic 134-year-old factory site. The investment, worth 463 million HUF, was funded entirely from the company’s own resources and is part of a large-scale development program aimed at expanding the company’s logistics and production capacities. The newly completed warehouse is already operational and it will also support production activities from February 2025.
The new warehouse hall is part of Continental Tobacco Group’s 16.5 billion HUF investment program, which aims to expand manufacturing capacity, modernize storage processes, and enhance energy efficiency. This is the first warehouse building outside the company’s historic factory site and contributes to the economic development of the region as well as the enhancement of Continental’s competitiveness. The new facility is an important element of the company’s long-term development strategy, focusing on expanding production and logistics capacities, and improving supply chain efficiency.
The two-aisle hall covers a total area of 1,200 square meters and includes modern social and office blocks to ensure employee comfort and operational efficiency. The investment was completed in less than six months, with planning carried out by Virtuál Architectural Studio and construction by Rex Bau Ltd. The building was constructed using the latest technological solutions, which facilitated the fast and precise execution of the project.
At the official opening, Peter Szamosvölgyi, the Mayor of Sárospatak, Dr. Rihárd Hörcsik, a Member of Parliament, Csaba Füzi, CEO of Continental Tobacco Corp., which owns the tobacco factory in Sátoraljaújhely, assessed the positive impact of the investment. Together with János Sánta Jr., owner of Continental Tobacco Group, they officially opened the new facility with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The warehouse has received all the necessary permits for use and will start production activities in February 2025, further increasing Continental’s production capacity. The investment not only makes the company’s operations more efficient but also strengthens the economy of Sárospatak by creating new jobs. In addition to improving supply chain efficiency, the project also plays a value-creating role for the local community, ensuring the company’s long-term stability and sustainable development.

It not only expands the company’s storage capacities, which are essential for supporting the growing production but also enables the company to make its logistics processes more efficient and sustainable.
